Reinventing and remodelling our lives - carving a new life out of the busyness

Soft_rose

The search for balance, for fulfilment, for space is often thwarted by our sheer busy-ness.  It almost seems counter-productive to want to reinvent ourselves, to remodel some part of our lives, as the effort that takes will make us even busier.

I have come across much advice in my quest for self-employment. It always seems to me that those closest to you are the most cautious and conservative. They feel they are protecting you by recommending you don't take on any more - and they cite your well-being as their main concern.

In my case, expressing the desire to resign from my corporate job, well meaning friends and family have asked Why?  Aren't you well paid?  You have the ideal job - working from home, being there for the kids, working 3 days a week... why would you want to leave that?

I learned, early on in my quest for self-employment, not to talk about it too much. To protect my dreams and goals at all costs.

For I knew it wasn't an easy road I chose. I knew there would be sacrifices along the road to freedom. That in creating space for The Clearing Space, I was saying no to something else. That my level of busy-ness would increase.

What I have found, in my quest for balance, for fulfilment, for space to be me - is that time expands to fit the need. If the desire is strong enough, we will find the space.  We will find the time.

It isn't counter-productive to undergo a life transformation. It may not be painless, and there will be choices to be made - but that beautiful, shiny goal hanging there just out of reach will guide you forward, somehow opening up a space before it, aiding your quest.

And if it doesn't - maybe you're trying too hard, or maybe, just maybe, it's the wrong move for whatever reason right now.

Well said Karen!

You said "If the desire is strong enough, we will find the space. We will find the time." I also find that the energy is there too. I am constantly surprised that even when I would be feeling very tired for other things, the energy levels for the stuff that excites me is always there.
